THAT MAN
Karen Kyunghee Mok
When I leave for work in the morning,
that man sends me off,
smiling and waving.
Reflected in the rearview mirror,
so far away
that he looks like a dot,
that man watches me.
When I head home from work,
wilted with fatigue,
the railroad crossing light blocks my path.
After turning, turning like the hands of a clock,
I finally enter the alley,
and from far away,
that man welcomes me, smiling,
with arms open as if to hurrah into the sky.
That man
is totally my man.
Through him, my empty-battery day
charges again.
그 사람
목 경 희
아침 출근길
그 사람이 손 흔들며
웃으며 배웅한다.
백미러에 비친 그 사람
멀리 점으로 보이는
지점에 서서
나를 지켜보고 있다.
절인 파김치 되어
퇴근하여 집으로 오는 길
기찻길 신호등이 길을 막는다.
시곗바늘처럼 돌고 돌아
다시 골목길 돌아오니
저기 멀리서
하늘 만세 하듯 두 팔 벌려
그 사람이 나를 보며 웃으며 반긴다.
그 사람은
온전한 내 사람
그로 하여 방전된
나의 하루가 다시 충전된다.
