SUFFERING

There is stiff wind today.
Whenever wind blows
the tree on the front yard shakes.
When the flowering tree twists
how it suffers
I feel that suffering as well
Only when the wind blows
the tree roots
grow.
Only when the flowering tree feels the scream
it bears beautiful fruit
and therefore there is a hope in the suffering.

아픔
박 윤 수
오늘도 모진 바람이 분다.
바람이 불 때마다
앞마당 나무가 흔들린다.
꽃나무를 비틀 때
얼마나 아플까
그 아픔을 내가 느낀다.
바람이 불어야
나무뿌리는
자란다.
꽃나무의 비명을 느껴야
아름다운 열매를 맺느니
아픔 속에 희망이 있다.

박윤수는 미국에 유학하여 University of Alberta 대학에서 물리학 석사, University of Cincinnati 대학원에서 물리학 박사학위를 받았다. 전북대학교 명예
이학박사이며 Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute 초빙교수와 서울대학교 초빙교수 역임, Johns Hopkins대학교 초빙교수 역임했다. 「해외문학상」대상을
수상했다.『해외문학』신인문학상 시부문에 당선되어 데뷔하여 「해외문인협회」(미국) 부회장으로 활동하고 있다.
